Olathe Half Marathon 2009

This title should have read Olathe MARATHON 2009.
But the marathon was cancelled last week due to the snow and ice.
They were able to have the half marathon this weekend so we hopped on board since the marathon was not able to be rescheduled.
Nikemom drove down Friday night to run Saturday.
What a cutie! Very kind and fun. My kinda girl.
She even brought some homemade salsa and jalapenos along with some other awesome goodies.

Race morning we were up and out the door by 6:00 so we could switch out our marathon bibs and chips for half marathon stuff.

Windy. Windy. Windy. Was the name of the game. Again.
This year they had a new course and it was much more appealing.
For having to postpone the race a week, everything went off without a hitch and kudos need to be extended to the race committee. Great Job Guys!

I had a good race. The race clock read 2:27:46 as I crossed the finish. But better yet, after the race they served up some locally brewed Boulevard Beer! Now that is worth all the running in the wind.

All in all...a great time.

  1. So that's where Boulevard is brewed, interesting. We like the Boulevard Wheat. Congrats on running the half!

  2. Sorry your marathon was cancelled but congratulations on a great run! I can only imagine the wind was brutal, we had 85km/h winds here. Well done!

  4. Isn't it a blast to meet a fellow blogger! Glad you and Nikemon had a great time. The Half sounds like it was fun despite the wind and what the heck, beer at the end of it makes it just that much more special!

  13. The wind was absolutely brutal Saturday, especially in miles 2-5. Congrats on the run.

Hospital Hill's next up for me - certainly warmer and probably less windy, but that stretch from the Plaza to 31st St? Shudder.

  15. Nice run Kim. That time is awesome, especially considering part of it must have been directly into the wind. I cut my training run about 8 miles short Saturday to avoid another 4 miles into the wind:)

  16. Kim, you and Doug are awesome! The race was chilly, a bit, ok so a little, windy, but well run and worth the drive down. I'm still waiting to meet Julie and and Amanda. Lincoln??? Anybody else coming to Lincoln?? Oh, and the free Boulevard Wheat...awesome! :D

  18. Kim, it was good to hang with you for the first few miles but that wind brought the BIG guy down. That was brutal! I had a great time though! Nothing is better than a couple Boulevard Wheats with an orange slice at 9:30 AM on a Saturday after a great race. Man those were good. I suppose it was 5 o'clock somewhere! ;0) Nice to meet you Nikemom. Can't wait for my first full at the Frisco run next weekend!
