Whew...This Has Been a Day

So...today was my last day worked at a company I've been with for 15+ years.
I am very excited about the future and looking forward to something new.
However, it was still an emotional day.

So...I thought I would work off this emotional energy with the Olathe Marathon tomorrow.
But with all the horrible weather predicted...anywhere from 4-8 to 8-10+ inches of snow...the marathon has been cancelled.
The have postponed the half marathon to next week, but have cancelled the marathon all together.

So...that means Nikemom will come down next weekend and we'll run the half marathon.
But I'm behind 2 marathons for the year with me wanting to cover 12 marathons this year with no marathon in February or March now.
But will make up one in May when we run 2 marathons. And I'm sure sometime in the fall we can catch up. I have no worries I can still do this.

So...tonight I'm going to trade in my water and chicken with pasta for pizza and beer!

Next marathon...April 19th...unless there's another 10+ inches of snow.

  1. busy day!! wow 15+ years... i hope your new adventure is something great :)

come to cali for one of your marathons!

  2. I can't wait to see where life takes you. It has to be better than where you were, constantly worrying about stability.

Ok I'm going to blog about this tomorrow...but I totally just created 5 bags of stuff for a garage sale because I was all full of pent up energy and annoyed about tomorrow. :)

  3. Ugh, what a bummer about the race! Did you have any takers for the treadmill marathon? :)

Come out east for Steamtown on October 11! Supposed to be one of the fastest courses in the country (and great scenery) - I'd do it with you!

  4. Too bad about that - i hate when the weather messes things up!

  5. Kim, what is going on?

    a) job?
    b) weather?
    c) marathon....?????

  6. Rob-Thanks for keeping me honest. Yes, the 18th.
Abby-no takers for the treadmill marathon. We have whimpy friends! And we may put Steamtown on our calendar-Doug needs PA for one of his states still.
Lil-What can I say?? :) I guess some higher power is saying I need a break!

  7. you will 'catch up' on this one for sure later this year, there is still plenty of time! hope you enjoyed the weekend with a little more free time and a lot less stiffness! :)

  8. I can imagine how hard it was to leave that job, even though something new and exciting may be waiting around the corner. I left my part time job of 9 years in Jan. Although I was so ready to leave, it was emotional. Good luck on your new endeavor!

  9. i just would hate for you guys to show up on the wrong date :)

  10. Are you even old enough to have worked somewhere for 15 years! I'm shocked and impressed :) Congrats on your new adventure - and good call on the pizza.

  11. I'm sorry to hear about the marathon. A guy at the 5K I ran on Saturday mentioned that it had been cancelled and I thought about you. Congrats on your new work adventure!
