Really... I should say I sucked.
It didn't.
It is a great race.
Perfect weather.
Beautiful fall foliage.
Lots of volunteers.
Nice trails to run on.
It really is a great race.
I don't want my crappy attitude to take away from their race.
It was me.
Not the race.
I was toast from the beginning.
3 marathons in 3 weeks...
Is a lot.
At mile 7 I was ready to quit.
I didn't need this marathon to make up my 12 of the year. I had already done an 'extra' so I was one up.
I came up on Battlefield Mall and knew I was several miles from Bass Pro, so if I wanted to quit, I would have to walk several miles back to Bass Pro. Well crap. Why would I do that? Just keep going forward. Forward. Forward.
Uggg...it sucked.
Then my mind set changed.
It got better.
Not great.
But better.
I finished.
With a smile.
And got my Big Bad Ass Bass.
Next marathon...2 weeks. I'm having a hard time getting excited about it. I'm still not fully set on running it. Then the grand finale in Vegas on my birthday. I AM excited about that.
Well Kim you are a trooper, good for you. No one would think any less of you if you miss the Gobbler Grind, that way you'd be rested up for your birthday run in Vegas! Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteOh BTW, CONGRAT'S!!!
Congratulations, and that is a nice medal!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you were able to finish the marathon with a smile!! 3 marathons in 3 weeks is a LOT! That is quite an accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteglad you pushed through it! that's a cool medal - you have definitely given me many races i want to do now. the end is in sight of your 12-in-12, an incredible goal and accomplishment!
ReplyDelete(umm i tried doing a 4-mile race a week after a marathon so i do not know how you do marathon after marathon!)
Crazy woman, yes U are! I think being your birthday will be enough to get you through another marathon.
ReplyDeleteGirl you are so crazy and so cute! I love that picture. Great job on another mary and I lovvvve that medal! :)
ReplyDelete3 in a row...WOW! That's an awesome feat of endurance! I'd have to say if I was in your shoes...first off my feet would be killing me because my feet wouldn't exctly fit in your shoes, but anyway, I probably would have called it a day at Battlefield Mall knowing there was an IMO's pizza across the street with a bacon/mushroom pizza and a cold beer with my name on it. What will power you have!
